I've gotten some responses about what's more important than love, and thank you! So,

[casey]
Human interaction

[walter]
nothing!

[mermaid]
integrity

So, to Casey: human interaction - it seems to imply action for the sake of action. What are we aiming for? All human interaction to me fosters love, so I end up at the same point. Even bad things can foster love for the "loser" or the "hero" or the philosophical opposite, or even the state to which you hope humanity clims, love of potential. The baby rape thread fostered love in me for the people that deal with that threat every day and still go on with their lives. And hate, for obvious reasons and not so obvious reasons. But still, emotion is the end result to me. So your answer seems like a broader definition of love to me, but still love. Correct me?

I'd love to hear more from you if you get more time... and as far as the gum goes, congrats on your progress! He's not smoking, he's just cranky and has 30 years of lung debris hacking out of him. I'm getting snapped at a lot. Gum doesn't help that. :( (Funny thing, the less he smokes, the more I have to smoke!)

And to Mermaid: integrity - Kind of the same question. With love, there's a payoff (hopefully), a blissful state of trust and contentment. Some would ask if integrity will keep you warm at night, but love won't either without a physical presence. So my next question to you would be whether there is some state reached, of alignment with something, satisfaction with a life well-lived. Is there a validation, where you know you've done it right? A result?

I suppose I'm thinking about whether it's childish or unevolved to want a result. I can agree with integrity being up there with love, but it seems like an austere life, to only satisfy the self. Is the person striving for love a slave to pack/herd/tribe emotional belonging motivations? Is the person who strives for integrity and cares for love only secondarily more evolved?

Perhaps I'm giving away too much and revealing that I'm a wreck without validation, and to me the result phase of love is the validation that you're doing it [life] right.

And to Walter, you softie... no, I haven't seen A Beautiful Mind yet but I'm so very very excited to! I've been dealing with sick boyfriend, sick kitten, PMS and too much work and I can't wait to get to the theater for that. But I haven't seen LOTR yet either so I'm way behind! Anyway, I believe I've shown my true colors above so you know I'm on the Love Team. But I may be on Casey's love team, and so might you... are you?
