Not sure. I think that, with all the counter-intuitive discoveries we've had in relativity and quantum mechanics, it's actually possible that we'll discover something that explains how the universe exists one day. But if god exists and created the universe, then it doesn't solve the problem: Why then does God exist? It's a logical loop - you just end up with the same question to answer. A paradox.
