I thought about something concerning the spreading/elimination of memes in potentially hostile subjects (such as religious bigots, for exemple). Now, it should be noted that what I'll be writing here isn't based on personnal experience.

  I think that, when trying to convince somebody of something that goes against their beliefs, or against a meme-allergy - like explaining the atheist viewpoint to a true Christian, or gay rights to a homophobe - then instead of directly explaining your position, you should discuss the associated co-memes, meta-memes, immuno-memes...For exemple, suppose that you're dealing with a guy whose religion says that the Earth is flat. Most probably, if you tell him about how airliners can go around the world, he'll reject and ignore what you said. Instead, one should implant the memes of reason, and particularly how reason is a better way to attain truth than faith. I believe that we should spend our effort in that direction - reason over logic. Only then is there a possibility for the subject to reject the 'flat Earth meme'.
