Crucial Conversations by Kerry Patterson, et al
Very good and easy to understand methodology for handling "crucial conversations", difficult confrontations and conversation involving powerful emotions or difficult topics (e.g a colleagues body odour, or an inheritance dispute with a sibling).

People Skills by Robert Bolton
Considered by some to be the best non-academic work in its class, it has been a staple of communications skills courses for 20 years. Very interesting but not as easy to read as Crucial Conversations (above). Demands greater attention and study, but a very worthwhile read.

Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most
From the team that brought you by the Harvard Law School team who wrote "Getting to Yes", Difficult Conversations is THE book on communication skills. It arises from Based on fifteen years of research at the Harvard Negotiation Project and is widely acknowledged as one of the best book on the subject. If you can only afford one of these books, this is the one to get. Crucial conversations is Difficult Conversations Lite (with a business focus) whilst People Skills is less focussed on pure communication as its scope is wider (interpersonal relationships in general).
