virus: Silence machine neutralizes noise

A UK engineer has developed a device called Silence Machine, which analyzes a stream of sound waves coming from a source of noise (unwanted acoustic information) and generates sound that is \"exactly out of phase\", neutralizing the incoming sound waves.

This does have some interest, because sound is one of the means of transmission of memes. However, a more direct memetic analog, which would cause apathy to specific memes, would be even more interesting (although not necessarily desirable).
