i have a question...

why, when a person likes you, do they find it easier to tell you they
like/liked you once they are in a relationship with another?
i realize the psychological factor of fear of rejection: now that they
have someone, they can tell you and not worry about you possibly
saying you don't like them, because it won't matter, they have someone.
kinda like a psychological saftey net. but doesn't it seem more
logical to make things clear, to state opinions and feelings when they
are relevent? (example: when people are discussing drugs and there
potential positive/negitive sides, you try to put you two cents in while
the discussion is going on, not a month later.)
