    [simul] I would argue that everything we claim to "know" is a matter of faith, absent referents (kant).

    [Lucifer] This may be true for certain broad definitions of "faith", but you should realize that most of us here have a narrower definition of faith that implies that the level of belief in a proposition (the truth value assigned, or confidence, probability or plausability level) is not supported by the evidence available.

    [Lucifer] I would have to agree that if all three conditions are met, then let them be self-deluded. The real question is whether self-delusion leads (probabilistically) to anyone getting hurt.
