    What happened to epaper? I was waiting for the first non-LCD epaper book to hallmark the era of paperless books.

    This is a kind of e-paper. Similar technologies. However the name e-paper was used by one of the companies, Gyricon, which seems to prefer making electronic price tags for the supermarkets now. My short investigation turned up this older article from the MIT Tech Review which outlines the technologies:

    Both technologies use tiny beads. Gyricon makes the beads turn, while E Ink makes some particles in the beads move. In both cases, the image remains when there is no power, which is good for the lifetime of the batteries.
