Whale flatulence stuns scientists http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,6947020%5E421,00.html
IT'S one of the unfortunate consequences of being a mammal - flatulence.
And, more unfortunately for a group of whale researchers, nature took its course right under their noses - literally. The researchers claim this is the first photograph of a minke whale letting one go in the icy waters of Antarctica. It was taken from the bow of a research vessel.
"We got away from the bow of the ship very quickly ... it does stink," said Nick Gales, a research scientist from the Australian Antarctic Division.

...this must be some sort of b.s. publication judging by the final two quotes supposedly taken from "reputable" sources. krill fishery? yeah right. whales eating fish?...the only whales that eat fish are the small ones that werent victims of whaling in the first place, well except maybe narwals and beluga - heavily preyed upon by eskimos intent on making that PERFECT cribbage score board...and who can blame them for such a necessary creation, anyways? regardless, i would wager a guess that dolphins consume about a zillion times more fish than any whale group might. that is one ZILLION +/- 3,204. but the worst of all are other fish...i would seriously suggest a focused hunting effort against big fish who have historically preyed upon smaller fish...their damage to the eco-system is hard to comprehend due to the sheer scale of the slaughter going on beneath the peaceful surface of our planets oceans. this must be put to a stop! and i've been told that this trend has been catching on within the lower lifeforms as well! where will it end?? to help put an end to this plight, i have set up a bank account in a tax free offshore account operating out of Lagos, Nigeria. please contribute whatever you can...Jesus will send you his blessings.

minor note to Sebby: Whales do indeed eat krill. Krill are not fish, they are shrimp-like creatures and form the primary diet of many baleen-filtering whales.
