Could America be moving, slowly, to a more fascist social and political
system? Some people think so, and there is no question but that some
developments in politics and political debate points the way towards
fascism. Whether fascism actually develops or not is, of course, an open
question - the presence of proto-fascist ideas and policies does not
necessitate actual fascism. We should, however, be very concerned about
these developments and look for ways to make sure that it doesn't get
    any worse...
At this same time, Republican leaders have moved to eliminate Democrats
from the exercise of political power. Democratic Representatives are no
longer allowed to ask the White House how taxes are being used - only
Republican heads of committees are allowed. This is an unprecedented
change which makes it much more difficult for Democrats to effectively
represent their constituents. In another move that the media hasn't
reported on as much, Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Ohio), chair of the
subcommittee that controls spending on education, health and jobs
programs, announced that all projects requested by Democrats will be
    rejected out of hand.
